Sailor Moon on the brain

You could say that I’ve had Sailor Moon on the brain pretty much since I was a senior in high school. Fall of 1995 was when Sailor Moon started showing up on TV (and also when the noseless dolls started showing up on store shelves). Like a lot of people, it didn’t matter that the dub was crappy (initially) or that the episodes were cut up or heavily edited. It was a good show about a sympathetic lady heroine and her pals that surely you could identify with on some level. I ate it up! There was a period of time where there was no piece of merchandise that bore the mark of Sailor Moon that could not be sold to me. I even had a running list at one point of all the stuff I’d bought, where I’d bought it, and how much I paid for it. I’m not sure what happened to that list. At one point, I had spent about a grand over the course of a year or so. I’m going to leave out a lot of details here for another time, but my interest in Sailor Moon cooled off for a few years, but lately I’m having a Sailor Moon frenzy again. It started with making buttons to sell at Anime Boston, and now I’m in a phase where I wonder what sort of cool stuff a person can make with laser-cut acrylic (answer: as much as you can think of that meets the requirements for laser cutting).

Last week, I received a sample of a laser-cut time key! What will I do with this? I have no idea. Will I sell it on my Etsy shop? Will I make it into a pendant for myself? I really don’t know.

Part of my Sailor Moon frenzy is the Sailor Pluto frenzy aspect of it. I used to have a Sailor Pluto character shrine that I spent a lot of time on (design more than content at times, ha ha ha), and you know, it’s really because of the stuff I did with my goofy Sailor Pluto site that I got interested in making websites and eventually landed me this sweet gig making websites (among other things). I’ve been spending quite a bit of time on my Tumblr blog Pluto Planet Power (same name as the character shrine that I used to maintain, ha ha ha). It’s getting harder to find stuff to post about Sailor Pluto two times a day every day that isn’t fanart or cosplay. To that end, I’ve been trying to generate my own content. Next week, I should receive some more laser-cut stuff related to Sailor Pluto (one of the things that I’m going to be getting is something that I do want to sell in the Etsy shop for sure).

What else, what else: I made this collage two weeks ago at an all-day crop:

I’m going to redo this, though. I’ve cut out some of the pieces, but I need to make a stop at Paper Source for some stick-on pearl gems.

Today, I received some fabric in the mail. Now I’m trying to figure out what to do with this Sailor Moon fabric, too. I’m thinking apron, but I got some good suggestions, too.

The adventure continues!

P.S. – I have an account on Gaia for the sole purpose of fancying up my avatar. Gee, guess who my avatar is supposed to be?
